Webelos

Webelos is a program for 4th and 5th grade boys that prepares them to join a Boy Scout troop while learning outdoors skills and participating in 20 different activity badges. Webelos is a gradual change from being an ‘adult-run’ den to being a ‘boy-run’ patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop.

This migration requires the parents and den leaders to give the scouts more and more control, decision-making power, and responsibility as they progress in skills, abilities, and maturity.

We are excited to be working with your boys this year. Webelos is an exciting time in Cub Scouting. We really expand on what we have been doing the past. The majority of our requirements will be done in den meetings and outings. We will let you know when items need to be done at home ahead of time.

For many of the activities that we do this year, both dens will work together. There will also be certain activities that the dens will do separately.

The goal for the Webelos I den (and first-time scouts entering the Webelo II den) will be to focus on the requirements for the Webelos Badge. For Webelos II scouts who have already completed those requirements, the goal will be to achieve the Arrow of Light, the highest award given in cub scouting.
